Barnsole Primary School – Home School Agreement

At Barnsole, we believe children do best when school, parents and staff work together with respect and shared goals. This agreement explains what we can all do to help children learn, be happy and succeed.

Our School Aims

  • Celebrate the diversity of our community and show respect for everyone.

  • Provide an exciting, balanced curriculum that inspires learning and builds confidence.

  • Work closely with families and the wider community, valuing ideas and support.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, trust and kindness in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our School Rules

  • Respect and listen to each other.

  • Help and encourage others to make school safe and happy.

  • Always try our best and be proud of our progress.

  • Solve problems by talking calmly.

  • Be honest, kind and trustworthy.

  • Take care of our school and belongings.

Working Together

Parents/Carers will:

  • Support school values and encourage positive attitudes at home.

  • Attend meetings to keep up with progress.

  • Encourage resilience, effort and independence.

  • Make sure children take part in school life and complete home learning.

  • Ensure children come to school on time, well-rested, in uniform and with the right equipment.

  • Keep contact details up to date and inform the school about absences, health or other concerns.

The School will:

  • Provide a safe, inspiring place to learn where all children can succeed.

  • Offer a broad curriculum and support each child to reach their potential.

  • Keep parents informed about progress, attendance and behaviour.

  • Welcome parents to contribute to school life.

  • Communicate clearly about learning, events and any changes.

Home Learning

  • Children will be given appropriate tasks.

  • Parents should provide time, space and encouragement for home learning and daily reading.

  • School will celebrate children’s efforts and share learning.

Responsibility & Equality

  • Children are encouraged to be independent and responsible for their belongings.

  • School treats everyone fairly and supports children to respect differences.

Communication & Concerns

  • Parents should check the website and letters first, then contact the office with queries.

  • Concerns about behaviour or learning must go through school staff, not directly to other children or parents.

  • School will respond to concerns respectfully and confidentially.

Parent Code of Conduct

Parents are expected to:

  • Treat all staff, children and families with respect.

  • Work with school staff to solve problems calmly.

  • Model good behaviour on school grounds.

The school will not tolerate:

  • Aggressive or abusive behaviour, swearing or threats.

  • Disrupting lessons or entering the site without permission.

  • Damaging property or using inappropriate social media to criticise staff, children or the school.

  • Approaching other children directly.

  • Smoking, drinking alcohol or using drugs on site.

Serious breaches may result in restricted access to the school grounds.

Social Media

Concerns should never be shared on social media. Parents must use school channels (class teacher, leadership team, Head of School). Offensive or defamatory posts may be reported to the site, and in serious cases, legal action may be taken.

✅ By working together, we can make Barnsole Primary a safe, supportive and successful place for every child.
